The Israeli Ministry of Health has officially and publicly recognized
that cell phones pose health risks.
No more walking on tippy toes and egg shells to avoid waking the
sleeping giant, aka, THE CELL PHONE INDUSTRY.
The front page of one of Israel’s leading newspapers, Yediot Aharonot,
showed pictures indicating restrictions regarding cell phone use:
don’t speak in an elevator, keep away from body, keep away from kids,
and keep away from the sick (those with compromised immunity).
This issue came out on July 28th, and I happen to pick it up on the
plane in Miami on my return flight to Israel.
I’m relieved that this information has finally been presented to
the public in an unequivocal way – before we see another 50% increase
in the incidence of brain tumors. Remember, the battle for the truth
about cigarettes took at least 2 decades. But the battle has not
been won, the initial battlefield merely demarcated: the hearts and
minds of the consumer public.
Page 2 and 3 were full spreads about cell phone dangers:
“studies have already shown , but now the Ministry of Health has
determined: speaking on a cell phone can damage health…”
Though their solution is to “install more antennae to reduce the
level of radiation”. Hmmm.
And where do you think those antennae are going to go?
First, what’s the rationale? The rationale is that the phone, being
held against the head, and kept on the body, poses the most direct
and intense radiation exposure. Phones must increase their power,
and therefore their radiation output, where there are fewer and farther
cell phone towers. Cell phones and towers are in constant communication
and must be able to communicate in order for you to complete a call.
The more towers, the closer you’ll always be to one, reducing the
phone’s need to increase its power to complete your call.
Makes sense, right?
On the other hand, every time the cellphone company wants to put a
tower where you are – your neighborhood – there’s an outcry.
People – we can’t have it both ways!! We can’t eliminate towers and
have cell phones.
Cell phone towers will put more people in constant danger and without
their consent. All so their neighbor can have a good signal.
We’re all living in a wireless grid, so regardless of whether you
use a cell phone, you are being exposed. The closer you live or
work to a cell tower, the more exposure you’re getting. The more towers
we put up, the less escape there’ll be.
At this point, it’s all a matter of degree. Cell phone technology is
here to stay. Despite the risks, I don’t believe there’s enough will
to turn the clock back and put the technology back into Pandora’s box.
So, it’s a choice:
- either limit your exposure by using your cell phone for short,
essential and emergency calls only
- or we create an even more radiation saturated environment to reduce
our direct exposure from the cell phones.
Keep in mind, it’s not just humans being affected by this wireless grid -
it’s plants and animals, too. They’re our sustenance. What happens
when we make all life on the plane non-viable through our arrogant use
of technology? Food for thought.
